From 70 to 270 thousand euros: I’ll buy it new! PART THREE.

Ore-entering the world of new production boats, for those who intend to buy, is undoubtedly a fascinating “game” but it is not always easy to have clear ideas. In the editorial staff, we asked ourselves a question: if today a hypothetical potential owner had a budget, 70 to 270,000 euros, which would then translate roughly from 30 to 45 feet, what boat could he or she buy?

The price range is not random; it is what we might call “average” for potential buyers of a new boat. Out of this reflection came a market analysis, the second of 4 POINTS of which we offer here, (HERE THE SECOND) aimed at “unearthing” some of the best-known models currently in production among major boatyards. A sort of mini “book” of the new that you may need in preparation for the upcoming boat show season or simply to get an idea of what new boats are out there, at what price and with what features. As you will read in the next few pages, they range from small cruising boats to long sailing boats, through sporty models for use in both racing and cruising. For each we give you the latest known list prices, these are the starting cost, without accessories or extra optionals compared to the standard version of the boat, excluding VAT and transportation. Of the prices however indicative if we intend to consider its purchase.

OCEANIS 46.1

The signature is always by the “archistars” Finot-Conq and the design is in the wake of that of the highly regarded 51.1 i.e., a hull with a redan, an edge, rather high on the water. What is surprising besides the design and comfort of this Oceanis, however, is the sailing performance capability in the First Line version. A complete, modern boat for discerning cruisers

Technical data: length: 14.60 m; beam: 4.50 m; draft: 2.355 m; displacement: 10,590 kg; shipyard: Beneteau. Price: 225,300

RM 1180

A boat that is definitely out of the chorus in terms of aesthetics and conception in the cruising world. The design is by Lombard, which characterized it with bridge flares to lighten its construction and keep its center of gravity low as well as improve water runoff from the bridge. The interiors are modern in style and full of natural light thanks to large windows in the deckhouse. Ideal for long cruises.

Technical data: length f. t.: 13.05 m; width: 4.37 m; draught: 2.25 m; displacement: 7000 kg; sup. sail. 92 sq. m; shipyard: Fora Marine; price: 190,000

SUN FAST 3300

Pohto © Jean-Marie Liot / Jeanneau

The 3300 brings with it some of the recent innovations seen in the world of ocean racing boats. The bow has powerful volumes, reminiscent of that seen in the Pogo 3 of the Mini 650s, or, with due differences, in the IMOCA 60 class, which is useful in keeping the boat from gagging when sailing into a strong wind at the stern. Ideal for offshore racing or short sport cruising. Technical data: f. t. length: 10.11 m; w. t.: 3.40 m; draught: 1.95 m; displacement: 3,490 kg; sup. sail: 61.90 sq. m; shipyard: Jeanneau; price: 126,916

HANSE 458

The goal of the Hanse 458 is to enhance one of the strengths of the yard’s latest production, maximum ease in sailing. The performance is certainly not that of a racer, but it is a boat with a ratio of length, comfort and price that is definitely competitive in the market, ideal for those new to sailing or + on their first purchase. Technical data: f. t. length: 14.04 m; w.: 4.38 m; draught: 2.23 m; displacement: 12,100 kg; sup. sail 103 sq. m; shipyard: Hanse Yachts
