Formenton Trophy loyalists: find out who has already signed up for the TAG Heuer VELA Cup Summer

For almost thirty years now (exactly since 1989), the Formenton Trophy has been held in the spectacular crystal-clear waters of the La Maddalena archipelago. And there are some loyalists who do not miss an edition of this beautiful late August sailing festival, a fitting conclusion to a nice cruise, or why not, an enthusiastic start for those who keep their vacations for the end of the month.

Let’s do a quick roundup of these loyalists by also going to peek at some names among those who have already signed up.

El Chico, Daniele Fogli’s J-109 has been participating in the Formenton Trophy for as long as I can remember, but only in 2015 did he manage to win among the “White Sails. ” Among those who have been there for two generations and since the very first editions isUmberto Carrara’s X 43 Red Red Wine, who now enjoys sailing with his children.
Also always present is Thule Kermesse, Fausto Rubbini’s Grand Soleil 50, as well as Suspiria 2, Jeanneau 54.

The beautiful vintage yawl Loki (Sparkman & Stephens) is the hull with which Mattia Formenton, son of former Mondadori Chairman Mario, is participating with his family in the Trophy. Gorgeous water line, giving an extra touch of elegance to the departure in front of the beautiful Porto Rafael!

Le Griffon is the First 29 with which students from the organizing club’s sailing school, Sporting Club Sardinia, participate: kids who have the opportunity to spend a special day with the instructor on board.

Large fleet in Sardinia for the J24s, and the Formenton Trophy never lacks one representing the glorious class: among the most assiduous are Nord Est Costruzioni, Mollicona, Paco, Sardares.

The 12-meter S.I. French Kiss also participated in the Formenton Trophy in 2008: from the America’s Cup to Porto Rafael for a historic edition, which also saw the TP 52 Rusal Sinergy, at the time armed by Roberto Colombo, on the water.

We also selected five boats from those already registered for the TAG Heuer VELA Cup Trofeo Formenton:

including Francesco Guerci’s Grand Soleil 56 Emotions, which will participate in the cruise category; then there are those from Santa Teresa di Gallura who are returning to repeat last year’s fine test, such as Alberto Roggero’s Sun Fast 40 Berenice, or the Sunlight 30 Jasper the second boat of Patirizio Rosi, bought two years ago for cruising ,but since this year racing in the St. Vincent-Elba area. Among the entrants, we also have Fabio De Angelis’ Oceanis 473 Bugia, which tells us in full TAG Heuer VELA Cup Summer Trophy Formenton “s spirit.e are a cheerful and sea-loving family with our three children Eleanor , Victor and Edward (4 months old) we signed up to enjoy the festive and sharing spirit of this event.”

Also among the entries is Marco Passagnoli’s beautiful Salona 37 Khelis KT.
