A perfect drift for those who dream of flying foils. TheFL01 comes from the Netherlands and promises to be easy to take even for less experienced sailors. In one word: easy-foiling. Gliding is not the privilege of a few; the FL01 promises everyone the thrill of flying on water. The design of this drift is by Jurian Rademakr, who wanted to fill the desire of many sailors to experience the thrill of foils without being professionals.
In the video below, it is explained precisely, directly by Jurian Rademakr how to use the two Dss foils constructed of carbon fiber: with two simple tops per edge they can be pushed out of the boat and lowered into the water or drawn back in.
Designed with the help of naval architect Hugh Welbourn, the daddy of Dynamic Stability Systems (DSS), these foils make it easy and safe to sail even at high speeds.
Looking at it this way it all seems very simple! The shape of the hull, 4.25 meters long and 1.8 meters wide, allows for stable sailing, given the generous beam, even without foils. The boat, built of fiberglass with carbon reinforcements for a total weight of 45 kg (55 kg rigged ), is equipped with only the square top mainsail of a generous surface area that ensures great fun, while the mast is made of carbon.
To start flying on foils, given their size, 6-8 knots of wind is sufficient, and the design is intended to fly the hull up to 20 knots, although, the primary goal remains that of easyfoiling, rather than that of speed. A goal achieved because of the boat’s ability to virtually maintain a stable buoyancy on its own.
The boat is priced at around 10,700 euros excluding VAT. aeronamics.com.

In 1979 a shipyard was born that was destined to carve its name in the history of yachting: it was X-Yachts, of which the legendary X-79 became the standard-bearer. An excellent first design, signed Jeppesen, the small 7.9-meter would be
