FIVE DREAM BAYS IN CROATIA

brijuni1. Brijuni Islands
44°55′ 15N – 13°36′ 30E
Istria and Kvarner. A few kilometers N of the beautiful town of Pula one discovers this tiny archipelago, so fascinating that it is protected by a National Park. You can stop in the harbor where, on the breakwater, there are some moorings for a fee or after asking permission give bottom in the two small bays of Sveti Nikola and Malom Brijuni (info: www.brijuni.hr).In the stretch of sea of the Fazanski Kanal, which separates the small islands from the coast where the village of Fazana is located, you can finally give bottom in the anchorages of Verige and Runci creeks on good sand tenor. Be careful only when strong winds blow from the N.

sailing proverja2. Vela Proverja
43°53′ 40N – 15°13′ 30E
Northern Dalmatia. Immediately S of the tiny island of Katina, located S of the southern tip of the island of Dugi Otok, one crosses Vela Proverja Pass, which separates the islet from the N coast of Kornati, the largest land of the archipelago of the same name. Right here is the lovely bay where you can bottom out in 2 meters of water. On the other side of Punta Proverja, Cape N of Kornati, however, is Suha Bay, a shallow bay where you can bottom or use one of the park’s buoys.

257322833. Sesula
43°23′ 38N – 16°12′ 53E
Island of Solta, Central Dalmatia.
Solta is the first of the large islands facing Split: about ten miles long, it is oriented on a NO to SE axis. On its O coast, half a mile S of the mouth of Maslinica harbor,
Sesula fjord is located. It is a very picturesque place and it is possible to give you bottom in front of the left bank where the channel stretches in 4-5 meters of water.

Vinogrades4. Vinogrades
38° 28′ 50N – 14° 57′ 50E
Pakleni Otoci Islands, Central Dalmatia. The Hell Islands (that’s the translation of the name of this archipelago today, however, a true paradise for yachtsmen) are a collection of low, verdant
atolls facing the coast of the village of Hvar from W-NW. They really host a number of fascinating bays, such as Vinogradisce Bay: it is well sheltered except from the SO and has depths of 5 meters.

70_7_4005. Zakoplatica
42°46′ 43N – 16°52′ 42E
Island of Lastovo, southern Dalmatia. A rugged and wild island covered with impenetrable Mediterranean scrub, Lobster Island is surrounded by several magical coves. Such as that of Zaklopatica, protected by an elongated islet that forms two channels: a deeper eastern one and a shallow (1.5 meters) western one that is not passable by boat. At the end of the bay is a small village, in front of which you give bottom in 5-15 meters of water on sand.
