We told you a few days ago about the launching of the Kauris IV, the 145-foot (44-meter) that, based on a design by German Frers, the Persico Marine shipyard-a pillar of the Italian and international hi-tech avant-garde-built in its Marina di Carrara factory for Pirelli Ceo Marco Tronchetti Provera.
The launching ceremony was literally “armored,” with the owner and a few family members. Along with them were the workers who built the boat, totaling about 150 people. The construction of the vessel-which cost about 30 million euros-took more than two years.
In the absence of official shipyard photos (on which contractual secrecy applies), here are the first images of the Kauris VI (little curiosity: in Finnish, Kauris means “Capricorn,” Tronchetti Provera’s zodiac sign) at the east pier of Marina di Carrara, wishing us to see it soon sailing!
The 44-footer flies the Italian flag and the pennant of the Yacht Club Italiano, of which Tronchetti Provera is a historic member. On deck, the layout features a deck saloon and cockpit on the same level. The absolute novelty is the lowered aft cockpit reserved for owners (to enjoy contact with the sea in total privacy), a true megayacht feature.
The lines betray Frers’ hand, all in all classic (and elegant) and with forehand and transom not overly “vertical.” The Southern Spars mast, as we have already told you, is as long as three tennis courts, and the boom, judging from the photo, is no joke either!
