TAG HEUER SAILING CUP CAPRERA – THE PROGRAM
SUNDAY, AUGUST 25
– Starting at 10 a.m., Porto Palma beach. Perfecting sailing entries, VELA Cup Games entries, gift bag delivery, numbers and instructions.
– 6 p.m., Porto Palma beach. Pre-race briefing for VELA Cup crews.
– 6:20 p.m., Porto Palma beach. “How to Become an ecomariner,” with Centro Velico Caprera, Medplastic, One Ocean Foundation, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
MONDAY, AUG. 26
– 11 a.m., waters off Porto Palma. Departure of the TAG Heuer VELA Cup Caprera (route: Porto Palma-Islands of the Bisce-Monaci-Porto Palma, a total of 18 miles).
– 5:30 p.m., Porto Palma beach. SAIL Cup Games: crews compete in three nautical-themed beach games: Tender Regatta, Fender Throwing, “Cock the Top” (tug of war). Prizes for the top three finishers.
– 7:30 p.m., Porto Palma beach. The TAG Heuer VELA Cup Caprera rankings and awards ceremony are unveiled, with prizes for the winners and raffle.
– From 8 p.m., Porto Palma beach. VELA Cup Party until late at night, with food, drinks and music on the beach with our DJ and all the “goats”.

WHERE & WHEN. Monday, Aug. 26 in northeastern Sardinia, Caprera in the bay of Porto Palma, home of the Caprera Sailing Center.
HOW TO GET THERE. Porto Palma on the island of Caprera can be reached: by sea, anchoring in the bay of Porto Palma and docking with the tender on the pier at Porto Palma beach; by land, reached with ample parking from the island of Caprera (which is connected to the island of La Maddalena by a bridge). From Sardinia high frequency ferry, with car transport, from Palau to La Maddalena.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE. Any kind of boat, no certificate is required.
PRIZES AND DRAWS. Rich prizes to the winners and beautiful raffle prizes. It is difficult for anyone who participates in a TAG Heuer Vela Cup stage not to take home a prize.Let’s start with the raffle prizes. At each stop, the following are raffled off among all participants in a drawing: a valuable TAG Heuer Aquaracer watch and a useful Garmin inReach, an inflatable Sup from Vetus, backpacks from Doyle’s sailmaker. But it is not over. Prizes are awarded to the first in each grouping in the two categories “cruising class” and “racing class,” prizes to Vintage boats in the two categories “vintage” (built before 1969) and “vintage” (before 1989). Special prizes: to the first place winner with the best performance (handicap system) among all participants; to the first in real time cruising class” and “racing class”; to the most elegant boat; and even to the last place winner!
LOCATIONS AND ANCHORAGES. Porto Palma is a bay totally sheltered from all winds in summer with room for more than a hundred boats at anchor, sandy bottoms from 3 to 8 meters. The Caprera Sailing Center is based here, with a beautiful beach where there is the Vela Cup Point for registration, instruction delivery and Gift Bag.
THEROUTE. Start in Porto Palma, islands of the Bisce, Monks, then return on arrival in Porto Palma. Total miles about 18 (reduced in low wind).

FERRIES. Onorato Armatori, will give free transportation on Tirrenia and Moby for deck passage and accompanying cars to Olbia (convention valid August 16 to 23) and from Olbia (convention valid August 26 to September 1). You will only pay port fees and any cabins, of course (info: www.velacup.it).
