The daysailer world is a galaxy that has always had particularly active markets in the United States and Northern Europe. Italy, however, has also been churning out some interesting players in recent years, one of which is definitely Eryd. Founded in 2006 by Emanuele Rossi , ERYD s.r.l. is a company that deals with sail and motor boat design, following the project in all its phases. The latest sailing design is the Eryd 32, which will be available in a standard version and one called XSM and equipped with L-shaped foils.
THE PROJECT.
The genesis of the project was to synthesize in the ERYD32 the qualities of the two previous models (ERYD 30 and ERYD OPEN) and obtain a solid basis for developing the range in larger square footage as well. The ERYD 32 features a sporty and elegant design. The hull has a narrow waterline width at little boat heel, which grows with a reserve of stability given by the edge that is softer at the stern and more pronounced at the bow.
At the front, the edge is sharper to keep the bow higher and have more buoyancy when the boat sails in strong winds at the leads. A design choice that will allow water to be detached from the sides of the boat and consequently keep the deck drier. The ERYD 32 is a daysailer geared toward sports use, where ease of handling still remains an underlying concept. Net of this design idea, this is a boat that, when the benches are easily removed from the cockpit (it is intended to be done), can change its skin and also be crewed as a pure racer. Not least because the numbers from the very first outings at sea tell us of a boat that upwind has no difficulty, in light winds, equalizing the intensity of the air and overcoming it when the angle to the wind widens and asymmetrical sails are used.
FOIL
Called the Eryd Foil system and found in the XSM version of the ERYD 32, they are L-shaped appendages that are operated with an electric control; they are not designed to lift the boat out of the water, although then in fact there is a major lift effect that reduces hydrodynamic drag. A lift effect given by the short horizontal side of the appendage producing a vertical thrust. This must be coupled with strong lateral resistance due instead to the long side of the L, which increases righting and reduces drift.

The foils do not increase the maximum beam, and when at rest inside, their presence is not at all invasive: they are housed in two 20-degree sloping hulls, like the foils, which in fact remain on the side of the boat and thus do not steal interior volume foreshadowing the possibility of employing the Eryd Foil Sistem even on larger size boats. The two versions of the Eryd 32 differ only in foils and in the fact that the
