Wehave been pushing the topic of electric propulsion for some time, so we can only be pleased with the overall DAME win (the prestigious award given at METS Amsterdam for the most innovative product) of Torqeedo’s Cruise FP range. That is, a series of electric pods with power ratings from 10 to 25 kW, which is comparable to conventional motors with 20 to 40 hp.
WEIGHT AND SPACE SAVING
The whole weighs from 9 to 27 kg depending on the power with a 24- or 48-volt power supply. Coupled with a folding blade propeller it minimizes friction, and thanks to lithium batteries the space and weight gained over a conventional motor is huge.
