We anticipated to you HERE that a new Elan was coming, and now we know that it will be called GT6, where the letters GT stand for Gran Turismo. To know all the details we will have to wait for the Dusseldorf Motor Show, but in the meantime we can already anticipate something.
The highly anticipated Elan GT6 is the result of a three-way collaboration between Elan Yachts, Humphreys Yacht Design and Studio F A Porsche. After acclaimed superyacht designs, this is the first time Studio F A Porsche has been deeply involved in the design of a sailboat.
“The fundamental idea behind the design of Studio F. A. Porsche’s new Elan GT6 yacht is to create a unique modern sailing experience that unifies nature and technology while traveling the high seas,” says Studio F. A. Porsche. The external goal of the yacht is to combine minimalism and dynamics, bringing water sports closer to nature. The result is a stunning aft deck composed of sculpted volumes inspired by aerodynamic elements used in sports cars,” the official press note tells.
“Our new flagship model offers discerning sailors all the benefits of Elan build quality and Humphreys performance with the design flair of Studio F A Porsche,” says Marko ล krbin, director of Elan’s Marine Division.
The concept behind the boat and Elan’s Grand Touring line in general is to make a design with large volumes and very well finished, to be placed at a high end of the market. Like the true grand tourers of the automotive world, however, it becomes essential to flank good sailing performance. The pronounced maximum width and double rudder portend fun speeds on the slack in strong winds; the full-glazed deckhouse will offer that idea of inside-outside connection that really appeals to those who like to sail long. Ultimately it could be one of the very interesting new features for the 2020 season.
