This is it, the official launch of the Elan GT 5, the first model in the Gran Turismo range that the Slovenian shipyard will unveil in December, is just a short time away. We are now able to reveal the first official renderings.
Designer Rob Humphreys worked by focusing on an angled hull; goal: to enhance stability and reduce wetted surface area in upright gaits. But the edge also gives more interior space, a fundamental condition for achieving a modern cruiser racer.
It will feature an oceanic-style double rudder blade and “T” keel, characterized by a very low center of gravity so as to increase righting moment without affecting displacement and friction too much.
The boat was designed with the idea of being steered by a small crew, so it is easily handled by two, with sheets and halyards deferred to the helmsman’s station and a cockpit clear of lines. A clean deck ensures quick and safe passage to the bow, as well as providing ample sunbathing space, complete with dedicated cushions in the bow.
Internally, particular is the location of the galley, moved more toward the bow with a consequent increase in square footage.
