Many people underestimate the importance of shipboard tops, opting for low coast solutions and not giving proper value to a key component of shipboard equipment. Nothing could be more wrong: the lines are as important as the basic components of the equipment. The use of poor quality, highly elastic ropes causes our boat to lose efficiency and can adversely affect performance.

The ropes do not have infinite life and, over time, they drastically lose their properties of load resistance and elongation. Halyards, sheets, and all shipboard lines are as important as a sail, and quality ones make better sail. Take a 12 m boat that has a mast of about 17, has a halyard that is at least 45/50 m long
