Today we tell you from the Dusseldorf Boat Show about two premiere boats of roughly the same 10-meter overall length that couldn’t be more different. These are theHunter 31 and theL30 One design. The first is a pure cruising boat made in the USA, the second an equally pure racer in eco mode.
HUNTER 31: THE 10-METER AMERICAN-STYLE NEW GENERATION
At the German show, the Hunter 31 makes its first European appearance. After the intervention of the yard’s new owner,
David Marlow
, the Hunters have remained true to their major prerogative of being very comfortable boats with a very American feel, but the build quality has been elevated and there have been some concessions to European styling as well.
Looking at it on the vessel, one immediately notices the generosity of volume that starts already from the bow. Certainly such large volumes penalize sailing in light winds but, on the other hand, this 10-meter has truly remarkable living spaces. Impressive is the width even below the waterline of the stern sections with an edge reminiscent of that of motor boats.
We were saying about the very “Yankee” choices. Just climb aboard and walk around the cockpit to realize the differences from other boats. Thus, the cockpit is very large and is also wider than it is long. Above the helmsman’s station is an aluminum superstructure that serves as a carrier for the huge bimini that completely covers the cockpit, and the mainsail sheet hoist is also located. The tree is without backstay. The overlap of the jib with respect to the mainsail is minimal.
Even more pronounced is the American approach in the interior with an aft cabin with a double bed placed per beam and another large double in the forward cabin. There is only one bathroom, also oversized for the size of the 10 meters. Everything else is a large living room with sofas and a table with a bulkhead kitchen. Dark-toned furniture and trim with teak solids. The Hunter 31 is offered in Dusseldorf at 134,000 euros very well equipped, ready to sail.
Main features: Length. outboard 9.73 m; length. afloat. 9.04 m; wid. 3.61; displacement. 5,440 kg; draft 1.35/1.65 m; ballast 1,532 kg; sup. vel. 54 sq. m.

l30 ONE DESIGN: THE REALLY ECO TEN METERS THAT GET YOU WHERE YOU WANT.
On its trolley, ready to be transported anywhere with a car, Dusseldorf is previewing the l30, a 10-meter built in Slovenia that is a pure racer but can also be driven by just two people. The hull and hull lines are as good as it gets when it comes to performance and ergonomics. It promises pure adrenaline sailing.
Climb aboard and you find a large cockpit with an open stern and double wheel steering,
equipped with a shower and a convenient swim ladder at the stern.
The jib has an underdeck furling system, and the mast is carbon.
The open space interior has everything needed for four-person sport cruising: galley, folding table, XL bathroom with shower and closet.
Propulsion is truly eco: lhe boat is equipped with a 6 kW electromechanical electric motor with Oceanvolt sail drive with next-generation lithium-ion batteries. The maximum range of the electric motor with a speed of 4.6 knots is 21 NM on flat water and 16 NM in rough water. Maximum speed reaches 8 knots. Full battery charging time is 5 hours. The motor has the hydro-generator mode: when the boat is sailing, it charges the batteries.
The l30 is developed to be transported and dry-stacked with ease. The keel and the two rudder blades go up, and the mast has an easy lowering system. The result: the boat on the trailer can be transported on all European roads without special permits by a middle-class car or SUV, the dry storage of the ‘boat is even easier.
Main features: Length. outboard 9.58 m; length. afloat. 9.20 m; wd. 2.54; displacement. 1,820 kg; draft 1.80/ 0.58 m; ballast 710 kg; sup. vel. 52.5 sq. m.

X-Yachts owners, unite: there’s a regatta just for you (even Classic!).
In 1979 a shipyard was born that was destined to carve its name in the history of yachting: it was X-Yachts, of which the legendary X-79 became the standard-bearer. An excellent first design, signed Jeppesen, the small 7.9-meter would be
