Dinghies are almost always the way younger people approach sailing sports. For this reason, too, they are a very lively segment, following the latest trends and very often launching new models with even daring designs. There are essentially three categories in today’s dinghy scene: traditional (monohulls and catamarans), flying (with foils) and inflatable.
In addition to the Olympic Classes, such as the Nacra 17 that gave us a gold thanks to Tita and Banti at last year’s games, there is a boundless panorama. Very much in vogue nationally, and worldwide, for example, is the Waszp, a one-design foiling dinghy that seems a strong candidate to become an Olympic class from 2028. There are also dinghies designed for pure fun, for those who want to have a boat to take in the car while on vacation and do some sport. These small boats are getting lighter and lighter and going faster and faster. Therefore, in addition to kids, they also attract adults, both beginners and experts, who want to have fun in the sea.
