No, it’s not a word we made up in the newsroom. “Marinanza” is the term under which Tommaso Agujari, a Florentine architect, is pursuing his project.
Which is? The recognition by municipal governments, with a Port under their jurisdiction, of Marinanza, or Honorary Citizenship to all those who have a permanently moored boat . The Port is thus equated with a Neighborhood/Rione of urban reality. “By doing so,” says Agujari, “the Sea Dwellers will have equal dignity, with privileges, as those who live on land. In addition, the Marinanza will be able to elect one of its representatives, officially recognized, in the submission of petitions to the Municipal Administration.”
This “concept/project” has already been presented on an experimental basis, to the municipalities of Cecina, San Vincenzo, and Piombino, and seems to have already received informal consents.
But Agujari has no plans to stop here:“Soon all the entities related to the Tuscan Sea will be involved with an articulate and precise formal act, as of today under study and the
he project should be included in the Tuscan regional tourism development program.
The www.lenuoverepubblichemarinare.it site wasconceived as a media glue, functional to the life of this new reality.”
So, shipowners from all over Italy, what do you think?
