najad_450It has been a few years since the news of Najad’s bankruptcy made the rounds; it looked like the end of one of the shipyards that made sailing history. Instead.

Instead, in just four years, Najad has become a benchmark again, relying on what have been the characteristics of solidity and seaworthiness that have made its fortune. Without, a winning idea, abandoning old shipowners, who if they need spare parts can turn to a service dedicated to them (just send an email to info@oys.se).

Production today takes place in the historic Henan shipyard, and already some highly successful models have been renewed, such as the “small“411, while soon, we speak of May, the 450 will go into the water. Italian enthusiasts now have a reference in our territory, Sail Passion (

THE HISTORY OF NAJAD SHIPYARD
In the late 1960s, Berndt Arvidsson asked Swedish designer Olle Enderlein for a 34-foot boat with strong lines, plenty of space below deck, and at the same time a sail that would allow for fun and, above all, break away from the long keel concept. From this request came, in 1971, the birth of project number 1 called Najad.

The tremendous success that this 34-footer finds kicks off the adventure, with all hulls being guaranteed after Lloyd inspection. For decades Najad became one of the symbols of solid Northern European boats, until in 2013, after several rescue attempts, the shipyard was forced to declare bankruptcy. Fortunately, several entrepreneurs decided to take it over, until today’s new venture. www.najad.se
