Are you a professional sailor and dream of going around the world? Would you like to do it in a regatta? Or are you mere enthusiasts and have the same desire? Perhaps a tasty opportunity may have arrived that is right for you.

In fact, 2023 will see the Global Ocean Race, the round-the-world, crewed, stage race, in which each boat must have at least n70% crew made up of non-professionals. For Italy there is only one boat entered at the moment, the Swan 65 Translated 9 of Marco Trombetti and Isabelle Andrieu . It is scheduled to start in Europe on September 10, 2023. From the old continent the boats will set sail for South Africa, from there they will head for Australia and New Zealand and, after rounding Cape Horn, they will unfurl their sails in the direction of South America, finally returning to Europe after seven extraordinary months on the high seas.

Translated has officially opened selection for crew, starting with the professional component, and is looking for a Skipper and Team Manager. They will then select the rest of the team that will take turns on board for the 4 legs of the regatta.

Crew applications should be submitted by filling out a form and sending your cv to the

by June 15. “We are happy to get into the swing of things by beginning to build the crew that will represent us in this memorable endeavor,” says
Marco
Trombetti
Ceo of Translated-we are looking for two professionals who want to seize the exceptional opportunity to sail around the world and also for those brave, passionate and dreamy amateurs who wish to be part of the crew.”

The crew will follow a training program off the coast of Rome as early as this summer to gain the experience and nautical miles needed to participate in the race, while an additional group will train starting in September on a sister boat off the coast of San Francisco.
“The dual training, at opposite poles of the globe,” Trombetti explains, “will facilitate participation by all members of the translation community who wish to join the project. Translated is in fact an Italian company, founded by Marco Trombetti and Isabelle Andrieu, with a global business in the translation industry and a pioneer in artificial intelligence.

OCEAN GLOBE RACE RULES

The Ocean Globe Race 2023 is a race in which the only technology allowed on board is the same as 50 years ago, and the real resource and the only wealth, the one that can deliver success, is people. If Translated has decided to measure itself in such an extraordinary and compelling challenge, it is because “We believe in humans” is the vision on which the company bases itself and its work, and it wants to affirm once again that humanity and its values are in no way replicable or replaceable by machines.

On the 50th anniversary of its first edition and in the full spirit of adventure of Whitbread – founder of the Ocean Globe Race – the trans-ocean race will retrace exactly the same epic voyage of half a century ago. In particular, the Flyer Class, in which Translated 9 will take part, represents the most extreme human challenge, as it is accessible to only eight boats that have already competed in one of the first three editions (1973-77-81) and will be allowed to use only the exact same equipment as then.
