The 2020 Cannes Yachting Festival has been skipped. According to international press reports, Reed Exposition, organizer of the Cannes Yachting Festival, has decided to cancel the event scheduled for Sept. 8-13. The organizers had reserved the right to decide today, August 21, on the fate of the kermis and give a final answer. In the end, the verdict was in: no Cannes Yachting Festival in 2020, then.
The causes of the cancellation of the Cannes Yachting Festival.
The situation in Europe over the past few days has worsened significantly in terms of infections and the spread of the coronavirus. As early as Aug. 11, 2020, the number of infections had led the French government to ban all events that gather more than 5,000 people at once until Oct. 30. The iconic Salon of the French Riviera thus found itself without any more prerequisites for a successful event.
Cancelled one of the most important boat shows internationally, the Cannes Yachting Festival, which is a major player in the Mediterranean along with the Genoa Boat Show. Meanwhile, just yesterday the Annapolis Boat Show was also cancelled.
No other details about the situation and future of the Cannes Yachting Festival are available at this time.

What about Genoa?
Now all eyes are on Genoa, among the few remaining shows still on the calendar. The event in the Ligurian capital is scheduled to take place in early September, but we will have to wait a little longer to learn more and see how things develop nationally and internationally.
