30 Sailors of History QOK.qxd:Layout 1Class of 1934, for sailing Cino has done so much. A native of Rimini, he fell in love with the sea during World War II, thanks to the fishermen of Cervia. Since ’69 he has been racing in Italy and abroad, achieving prestigious personal successes, and in ’81 the Azzurra Consortium, sponsored by the Aga Khan and Gianni Agnelli, wanted him as skipper. Ricci reached the semifinals of the 1983 Louis Vuitton Cup, returned to Italy as a hero.

28850002Ricci is a great sailor, a very likeable reporter, but above all an excellent organizer: he has given birth to real milestones in sailing kermesses, such as the Giro d’Italia a Vela and the Giro di Sardegna. Mythical.

Because: Italy’s first America’s Cup skipper, no one has contributed more than him to the development of sailing in our country: not only as a racer, but also as a communicator and as a profound connoisseur of the national nautical fabric.
