The Cannes Yachting Festival and the Genoa Boat Show presented us with many new developments coming from the big names in Italian and international yachting. Our editorial staff went aboard the latest boats put in the water, one of them being the new C-Cat 48 catamaran from C-Catamarans, designed by young French designer François Perus. We talked about this with Amerigo Guardigli, an engineer working on C-Cat production and a key player in the shipyard’s new direction. Here is our onboard tour and a preview of the catamaran.

C-Cat 48 – The Project
The C-Cat 48 reflects C-Catamarans’ philosophy of producing catamarans intended for sport cruising. Comfortable, equipped with every comfort, but with distinct sailing capabilities. For this reason, the C-Cat 48 is equipped with two side, slightly curved, dive-adjustable drifts. These help in upwind sailing, and at the same time with the curved shape reduce hydrodynamic drag under sail.
C-Cat 48 – Construction and interiors
The construction involves a sandwich structure laminated in infusion with multiaxial fabrics and epoxivinyl matrix. The bulkheads are composite with local carbon reinforcements. A rather high starting construction standard therefore, to maintain a performance cruiser sail area to displacement ratio.
For the interior, the boat has two versions that can be customized: the lighter, more comfortable Antigua version, but with a greater focus on sport sailing, and the more luxurious S.Barth, for those who want to feel at home on the boat.
