September and October are the best time to take a charter boat or rent a cabin. Here are the twelve areas where Mediterranean fleets are concentrated.

Past the August flood, September and October boat rental prices drop by an average of 20 percent. Now is the time to carve out a week’s vacation at the end of summer. We have selected the twelve areas where most charter boats are concentrated. It is estimated that today between monohulls and catamarans until about 3,000 boats are available to you in these areas of the Mediterranean, which accounts for as much as 70 percent of the total world charter market. Here are the twelve areas where the majority of rental fleets are concentrated.

Balearics. Large concentration on the island of Majorca, the largest. Perfect base for exploring the main island or reaching the windier Menorca to the northeast, or the mundane (but beautiful) Ibiza and Formentera.

French Riviera. From Cannes all the way to Marseille, dozens of rental bases are concentrated. We recommend, if you have not been there yet, the calanques of Marseille or the islets of Lerins, not forgetting the islands of Porquerolles and Port Cros.

Corsica. Countless bases in both the north and southwest. Definitely not to be missed are the islands of the Straits of Bonifacio to the south, Saint Florent to the northwest, and then the natural wonders of the Desert des Agirates and the Scandola Reserve.

Sardinia. In the north, bases are concentrated in the perimeter between Olbia/Porto Cervo and the Maddalena archipelago and neighboring coasts. To the south, where there is always less chaos, bases between Cagliari and its east and west coasts. Not to be missed here is a visit to the island of San Pietro and San Antioco.

Tuscan Archipelago. Departing from neighboring coasts or the island of Elba itself, hundreds of boats are based in this prized area. Awaiting you is Elba, a small continent, Giglio, Giannutri without forgetting the coasts that are beautiful and full of safe harbors.

Bay of Naples and Pontine Islands. The supply has grown considerably. September is the right time to sail the deep blue of the Neapolitan islands (Capri, Ischia Procida) and the Pontine Islands (Ponza, Zannone, Palmarola, Ventotene, Santo Stefano). A detour to the Amalfi coast rounds out the experience.

Sicily. On the island continent of the Mediterranean, charter boats are concentrated on the coast in front of the Aeolian Islands and in front of the Egadi Islands. But if you have time explore the coastline as well, such as the spectacle of Syracuse from the sea. Large increase in supply in the past two years.

Croatia. It is the leading charter destination in the Mediterranean, thanks to its 1,200 islands that offer safe havens anywhere and scenery that changes in just a few miles, like nowhere else in the world. In September/October then find places everywhere.

Greece/Ionian Islands. Just a few miles from Italy, one of the perfect areas for sailing. From Corfu to Zakynthos, the coast is green like nowhere else in the Mediterranean, the winds are almost always gentle, and the villages have that architecture reminiscent of Venice.

Greece/Sporades Archipelago. These northern Aegean islands will introduce you to a different Greece. Starting from Volos on the mainland, one reaches sparkling Skiathos and then returns to calm in wild bays such as Platanis.

Greece/Cyclades. From September, the strong Meltemi wind subsides, so you can visit one of the most beautiful archipelagos more quietly. You have the worldly choice of Santorini, Mikonos or Naxos or the wild tranquility of the Lesser Cyclades with its capital Amorgos.

Turkey. Don’t be frightened by the political situation, from bases in Marmaris, Bodrum or Fethye you will set off on a leisurely cruise along its coastline full of bays, archaeological remains, excellent seaside eateries. Excellent supply of boats.
