Giovanni Soldini had not been heard from since the last Sydney Hobart, which finished fourth in real on the VOR70 Maserati. It was known that this would be the Milanese sailor’s last challenge, and John was looking around for a multihull.
MASERATI BELIEVES IN HIM
And indeed the announcement comes: John Elkann has purchased the former MOD 70 Edmond de Rothschild (launched in 2011 and optimized in 2014-15 by the Gitana team) to put it at Soldini’s disposal. Maserati is confirmed as a sponsor, joined by a pool of partners (UnipolSai Assicurazioni, Ermenegildo Zegna, Boero Bartolomeo).
TEST IN BRITAIN
“After three years of satisfaction with Maserati VOR70,” said Giovanni Soldini, “in which we have covered at least 100,000 miles and sailed five continents achieving important sporting results, it is time to take on new adventures. I am happy to undertake this challenge with a multihull, Maserati Multi70. Since April we have been getting to know the new boat by doing tests in Brittany. I am looking forward to boarding it.” The schedule that will face the new Multi 70 Maserati in the 2016-17 biennium is not yet known
