Boats 2016 in 10 words: Innovation

2_M4_Tri_Profile_V1We often find ourselves taking stock of what has been, of the new things we have just seen at the shows or on the docks. Today we are changing the game. We sat down at the editorial desk and tried to imagine, data and experience in hand, what might change in the boating world in the next twelve months. Thus was born a small vademecum in ten words: from A for Alliances to R for Reputation. After the first six installments (links can be found at the bottom of the article), today we are talking about Innovation.

INNOVATION
The strongest sign of the new blood that the sailing world is experiencing is the ability to innovate, to do research and continuously come up with things not even imagined even a few years ago. We thought we had seen it all, but the construction sites continue to amaze. In addition to the aforementioned AST system (see Easy Sailing), winches capable of tacking on their own, automatic pilots connected to the engine and capable of almost mooring without us putting our hand on the rudder, what will be in store for us this year?

If it was home automation that was the new leading sector, hitherto only touched upon in boating or reserved for large yachts. It may also have the merit of bringing in new players: will software champions be able to “dominate” the world of boats as well?
