We often find ourselves taking stock of what has been, of the new things we have just seen at the shows or on the docks. Today we are changing the game. We sat down at the editorial desk and tried to imagine, data and experience in hand, what might change in the boating world in the next twelve months. Thus was born a small vademecum in ten words: from A for Alliances to R for Reputation. After the first five installments (links can be found at the bottom of the article), today we are talking about Electronics.
ELECTRONICS
Let’s not hide behind a finger: in-vehicle electronics make life easier (and lots of it). The real revolution in the last two years has been the emergence of tablets (and their apps). First only in the racing world, then also during cruises. Yeah, you may not have realized it, but if you are at the helm, there is a good chance you have a tablet in front of your eyes.
This means being able to rely on an endless array of apps and services, but also having an almost endless source of distractions. Then, for 2016, we are expecting a sprinkling of models with ever larger touchscreens: the ability to dialogue with the boat and its myriad adjustments will also improve. In addition, further evolution of on-board electronics in terms of safety is expected, especially with regard to personal instrumentation, such as portable mobs.
