We are presenting to you, day by day, the best ports in Italy in which to stop with your boat. After dealing with Liguria, let’s move on to Tuscany: here is everything you need to know about Marina Cala De’ Medici (Rosignano Marittimo, Livorno).
Marina Cala De’ Medici: a port that has always been safe, already working to overcome the emergency
Marina Cala de’ Medici is confirmed as one of the marinas cutting edge in Tuscany. In fact, in response to the economic downturn that arose with the health emergency for COVID-19, it has created two restart projects that aim to both revive nautical tourism, focusing on chartering as a driver for recovery, and to boost the businesses located in the Marina: stores, bars, restaurants, art gallery, design studio, gymnasium, and nautical agencies.
The first project, “Alto Tirreno Charter Base,” starts with the creation in the port of a “safe dock,” with constant sanitization protocols, dedicated only to charter and transit boats, so that they can do arrival procedures in a circumscribed space, with dedicated personnel equipped with safety devices (info at: safe.marinacalademedici.it). Cala de’ Medici will thus be an experimental hub of a model to be replicated in the ports of Tuscany to create a network of nautical charter bases that can allow companies from all over Italy to move their fleets to Tuscany at discounted prices, offering tourists and tour operators nautical packages at favorable rates.
The port
That’s not all: Cala de’ Medici has also thought about what allows the port to offer its shipowners a top welcome: its trading village. The Marina has created an online platform that is a virtual showcase of its businesses(shopping.marinacalademedici.it), where it can book onboard delivery of food and appetizers, as well as clothing from clothing stores, and make appointments with businesses that provide services.
The same businesses that wish to do so can hook their e-commerce to the platform. Both projects are intended to enable the Marina not to lose revenue from charter and transit boat moorings, but more importantly to remain attractive to its clientele with a village that is always accessible.
Finally, the “safe dock” is intended to keep charter and transit boats “separated” from stationary boats in a dedicated and sanitized area.
Where it is located
Marina Cala de’ Medici, in a truly strategic location for sea-goers, is reached between Castiglioncello and Rosignano Marittimo, in the heart of the Etruscan Coast. A true launch base for cruises to the Tyrrhenian Sea, Corsica, Sardinia and the Tuscan Archipelago.
