Beneteau, the world’s largest recreational boat builder, celebrates 55 percent more orders than in 2020 (1.8 billion orders at the end of June 2021) with its acquisition with the PPF fund of 87 percent of the largest charter group, Dream Yacht Charter and 50 percent of the other company Navigare Yachting.
Beneteau boats for charter worldwide
With these acquisitions, the Beneteau Group also becomes the largest charter and yacht management (management program) operator with more than 2,000 boats worldwide.
In addition to the acquisition of a majority stake in Dream Yacht Charter, of which it directly owns 41 percent of the company with PPF, the group Beneteau also recently acquired 40 percent of the U.S.-based Your Boat Club, which for a member fee rents boats primarily for day trips with 24 bases and seven owned marinas in the U.S.
40 million euro investment
Beneteau has invested 40 million euros in these operations, but it is closing the circle for a strategy pursued in recent years. He also created and owns other digital businesses related to chartering such as BandofBoats and Digital Nautic.
The idea originated from auto manufacturers
Following the strategy of automobile manufacturers, which have been acquiring rental companies for years, most recently the Volkswagen Group acquiring Europcar, or creating carsharing companies, such as Mercedes with Free Now, Beneteau is also creating a new outlet for its production of sail and power boats.
The goal, said group CEO Jérôme de Metz: “These new prospects are fascinating and further strengthen our position as a world leader in the nautical market.”
