Maurizio Cossutti, the cruise-racing wizard and optimizer par excellence of boats for ORC, displaces everyone by signing the new Bavaria C57, flagship of the great German shipyard. The Italian designer’s hand can all be seen, betrayed by the combination of sleek lines/performance research.
CONVENIENT — BUT PERFORMANT
With an upwind sail area of 136 square meters, the Bavaria C57 promises fast sailing. With its two rudder blades, the 57-footer can be kept on course with ease at the push of a button. In aft gaits, the boat’s maximum performance potential comes from a 232-sq m gennaker.
EASY COCKPIT AND RIGGING
The cockpit design is “revolutionary”: the two control stations offer a total view of the boat; sails can be directly adjusted by the helmsman, using four large winches on the steering column, making it easy to drive even with a small crew; the fold-down table that turns the cockpit into a real living room. Two additional large relaxation areas are located aft and forward of the mast on the deckhouse.
LAYOUTS IN PROFUSION BELOW DECK
The interior configuration possibilities of the Bavaria C57 are truly endless. The three-cabin layout is typically built with the master cabin forward and the two guest cabins aft. Two options are offered for a four-cabin configuration. There is also space along the starboard broadside between the salon and guest cabin for another cabin with bunk beds. Alternatively, this cabin can be converted into an additional bathroom, or a storage room with enough space for a washer and dryer. The second option provides two large forward cabins. A 5-cabin version can be easily configured from these many variations, and the sailor cabin can be added forward upon request. The facilities in the large forward master stateroom leave nothing to chance; a double bed, private bathroom, separate shower, and plenty of storage are part of the standard layout. The two guest cabins are located aft with large double beds that can be converted to single beds with a few simple maneuvers.
LARGE LIVING AREA
With 88 sq m of living space, the Bavaria C57 offers a large living area; entering the salon we find a separate living area located on the starboard side. A large table is the perfect place for a dinner party with guests and friends while storage areas are obtained on both sides. Lacucina with oven and sink is on the port side, and the refrigerator with freezer and work surfaces are on the starboard side.
PRESENTATION IN DUSSELDORF
Production of the first Bavaria C57 has already begun in-house at the Bavaria shipyards. The unveiling of the first example is set for January at Boot Düsseldorf.
