The victory (in IRC Overall) of B2, Michele Galli’s TP52 (YC Marina di Loano) at the 36th Rolex Middle Sea Race, seems now certain. A great satisfaction for the team that would repeat the success achieved in 2013. But what would make this feat more tasty would be the incredible duel, which lasted throughout the race, with Mascalzone Latino, Vincenzo Onorato’s Cookson 50: a battle, made up of changes in the lead in plywood (in Lampedusa Mascalzone was ahead, in Favignana and Pantelleria B2), which ended with a gap of only 9 seconds (nothing, on a 606-mile race!) in favor of Galli. It was a fight between titans: aboard B2, in addition to the unfailing Francesco De Angelis, people like Corrado Rossignoli, Flavio Grassi, Lorenzo Bodini, Nacho Postigo, and Manuel Modena; the “rascals” responded with the likes of Matteo Savelli, Flavio Favini, and Alberto Bolzan.
In ORC overall the sides are reversed: first Mascalzone Latino, second B2.
