“You ask for a boat, we give it to you.” This, in a nutshell, is the philosophy guiding the Beneteau Group‘s “new course”: boats for all tastes and needs. It’s the Cannes Motor Show, the first major event to open the trade show season, the right time to take stock with deputy CEO Gianguido Girotti, Martina Torrini (Lagoon product manager), Luca Brancaleon (managing director): by the way, how much Italy in the governance of the world’s largest sailboat manufacturer.
The first new addition-which we told you about HERE-is the new First Yacht 53 (17.14 x 4.99 m), marking Beneteau’s entry into the world of luxury performance cruisers. A boat for those who like to go fast characterized by elegant lines (there is a lot of Italy here as well, with the design by Roberto Biscontini and Lorenzo Argento) and high quality interiors, combined with important storage spaces: we were amazed by the garage for the tender at the stern!
The First range also covers smaller square footage, following Beneteau’s acquisition of the Seascape brand, which has allowed it to include the First 14, 18, 24 and 27 sportboats in the stable, ideal for those who are looking for splash and adrenaline(HERE we talked about them).
The high-end cat sector has also been covered by the launch of the Excess, with the 12 (11.73 x 6.73 m) and 15 (14.76 x 8.03 m): soon to come are the 11, 13 and 14 to complete the series, which features an attractive look and performance. These cats (we told you about them HERE) have a larger sail area to displacement ratio than the common cruising cat. This is due to a very careful construction of weight distribution and quantity, and of a sail plan with strong elongation.
And for those who love the two hulls, but have an even more “cruising” spirit? Never fear, the new Lagoon Sixty 5, younger brother of the mammoth Seventy 7, will arrive in 2020: it will be a boat featuring a liveable fly-bridge-covered by a hard-top-and equipped with every comfort.
Also for Jeanneau, part of the French giant, was a year of news: the Sun Fast 3300 ( 10.49 m long and 3.40 m wide, the hand of guru Guillaume Verdier is on the project: it took the place of the 32o0, we told you about it HERE) is the right boat for those who enjoy offshore sailing and somewhat more “spartan” sailing (and perhaps want to take some satisfaction in long races).
Dedicated primarily to the world of charter and ultra-comfortable cruising, it is the revolutionary Sun Loft 47, the “monocat” that has already made a lot of waves. At 13.24 m long and 4.49 m wide, on a single hull it has the ambition to encapsulate the comfort and space solutions typical of cruising catamarans, while also adding some revolutionary new features.
The possibility of configuring the cockpit in different ways thanks to the large superstructure clearly visible above: from totally open to totally closed, passing through an intermediate solution, a “chameleon” boat then that changes its appearance according to weather conditions and needs. The other novelty is that there is no dinette inside, but space has been maximized to get as many berths as possible, as many as 6 bunks with 5 bathrooms, two of them accessible directly from the cabins, with the possibility of accommodating up to 12 people on board (+ 1 skipper). We told you about it HERE.
Last, but not least, the “downward” renewal of Beneteau’s Oceanis range, with the 30.1, the easy-to-drive entry-level for those entering the world of cruising: the signature is by Finot/Conq and Nauta Design to maintain the family feeling with the “.1” range, and the size is one under 10 meters (in Italy, therefore, it does not require registration) that has not been seen at Beneteau for several seasons.
Whether you are a sports sailor, a cruiser, a lover of comfortable or “naughty” cat, Beneteau has the solution for you.
