As of today, for many of them, a dream cultivated for years becomes a reality. We are talking about the participants in the 31st edition of the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), 2,700 miles of more or less competitive racing on the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria-Rodney Bay (Saint Lucia) route, whose start is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. today. The secret of the success of this event, founded by the legendary Jimmy Cornell, is that it is a great adventure (the Atlantic crossing) within the reach of everyone, even families with children. Who knows, you might also decide to take part, perhaps next year or in 2018. Everyone who has done it has described it as a unique experience (by the way, here is all the info if you get the urge).
CROSSING THE ATLANTIC IS IN FASHION
This year saw a real boom in participation, with as many as 220 boats at the start, seven of which fly the Italian flag (nine, if the ARC +, starting in Cape Verde, is also counted). Shown in the table below are all the Italian crews we are rooting for!
