At the Genoa Boat Show, we had the opportunity to meet the start-up Koyré, specializing in the development of innovative sensors, thought about the application of these principles in the nautical field. What are we talking about? Of a sensor made of textiles that, when applied to a specific point on a sail, via a small control unit transmits a range of useful information about the work of our sails to the on-board instruments.
Sensorsail, that’s the name of thesensor, makes it possible for the first time in the world to measure and transmit in real time to on-board systems the data on the voltages and loads to which sails are subjected under sail and to provide the necessary information to both designers and users of the boat. This will make it possible to have all the useful elements available to then proceed with the selection, adjustment, maintenance and replacement of sails.
Therefore, the end result will be a boat that is more efficient, durable and, a not insignificant detail, safe as well. The Sensorsail system, developed in IoT – Internet of Things logic, will then be enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI) systems for data analysis.
