There are many initiatives that the sailing world has launched to help in the difficult health emergency caused by the coronavirus epidemic (we have told you about some of them HERE). Centro Velico Caprera, Italy’s most famous sailing school, which has taught more than 100,000 students to sail in more than 50 years, also did not back down.(Cover photo: Lorenzo Sironi)

“We asked our community to lend a hand with a fundraiser that provides those who donate with a gadget T-shirt (which we wanted to be strictly “unbranded,” with no trademarks, so as not to distract from the message) bearing a phrase from Amerigo Vespucci that we love very much,” we were told by CVC.
HOW TO MAKE DONATIONS
All proceeds from the operation will go toward the purchase of the above materials; the three possible donation ranges are 25, 50 and 100 euros. So far, the initiative has been a great success, and to date more than 20,000 euros have been raised: 10,000 masks already purchased in shipment and many gallons of disinfectant gel.
Then again, at Caprera, they know better. A true sailor always helps those in need.
