Today we’re off! The 151 Miglia, the most successful Tyrrhenian regatta in recent years (departure from Livorno, passages at Marina di Pisa and at Gorgona, lapping the islet of Giraglia, then down to the Ants of Grosseto, after skimming Elba, before the finish at Marina di Punta Ala), has exceeded 200 boats at the start: 208, to be precise.
LIVE START FOR A “SOCIAL” 151
The start of the 151 Miglia-Trofeo Celadrin can be followed live directly from the site’s home page. In addition, the many socials active since the eve of the race, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, will be engaged in a live broadcast that will go on until the conclusion of the race.
THE CHALLENGE IN THE WATER
On the water it will be spectacle, with the challenge between boats such as the SuperNikka of regatta patron Roberto Lacorte, the Maxi Ourdream by Rigoni di Asiago (record holder set in 2011 with a time of 16 hours and 25 minutes), Pendragon by Nicola Paoleschi, Carlo Puri Negri’s Atalanta 2 fresh from refitting, Pierluigi Loro Piana’s My Song and Adriano Calvini’s Itacentodue, Giancarlo Gianni’s Farr 62 Durlindana 3, Sandro Paniccia’s Scuderia 50 Altair 3 and Marco Serafini’s TP 52 Xio.
TRACKING AND MORE
The 151-mile race will be experienced live with both Yellowbrick tracking and on the event’s official social media, with the many Maxi Yachts in the hunt for the record – assuming the right weather conditions – as well as of winning the Challenge Trophy reserved for the first hull to finish in real time, and with the other dozens of boats that have the 151 Miglia as the highlight of the season, vying for Overall and class trophies in the ORC International and IRC groupings. The 151 Miglia-Trofeo Celadrin, which as already pointed out will start from Livorno today and end in Punta Ala, is one of the main stages of the Italian Offshore Championship and is part of a combined event, joining that between the 151 Miglia and the Gavitello d’Argento, which includes the Regata degli Isolotti (May 27) and the Giraglia Rolex Cup (June 16), as well as being the last event of the Tuscan Archipelago Trophy.
