An eight-foot drift with an ultra-modern design and mind-blowing performance that weighs 40 pounds and fits inside the trunk of a car. Possible? Yes. A Montpellier-based startup, Reverso Project, made it in France. who has implemented a truly revolutionary project that works. How did they make a real, non-inflatable drift that can be assembled in ten minutes, watch in hand? The Reverso (the boat’s name) team divided the hull into four pieces that overlap like a Russian Matryoshka, reducing the total size of the entire boat, including mast and mainsail, inside a 145x91x71 cm bag with a weight of 41 kg.
THE VIDEO PRESENTATION OF REVERSO
A SIMPLE AND INTELLIGENT SYSTEM
The problem was to join the four pieces into a solid, rigid whole. Resolved. Each of the 4 pieces of the piece hull are joined to the other and then the hull is made integral and very rigid by a simple system called “Tension Dynamic”: these are very simple straps inside the hull that are tightened with a manual ratchet system, like the ones used to tighten roof loads on cars. Just watch the explainer video found on this page to see how easy it is.
IN TEN MINUTES YOU ARE READY TO SAIL
French Voile Magazine tested it and assures that within ten minutes the boat was ready to sail. Reverso is a real boat with ultra-modern racer lines and a flat hull for easy planing, obviously liftable centreboard and tilting rudder. The construction is glass sandwich/PVC infused, and the supplied excellent equipment is from Ronstan with FSE Robline scotch.

THE TEST RESULT
Emanuel van Deth, who previewed it, says that in the water it performs as well as a good single-driver. You board the boat with ease, and the boat is stable due to the full shapes resting on the water. Just a little drift is enough to go into the wind. The equipment is super simple and the position is comfortable, sitting on the wide flat edge. No water seepage from hull piece seams. Emanuel praises upwind performance and tacking, as well as gybing. At carrying gaits Reverso glides with ease and on flat water has reached 15 knots. It seemed impossible for him to be on a detachable drift that fits in the trunk of a car or in the house without having to put it back in the garage. www.reversoproject.com
