Everything is ready. Tomorrow you will find out who are the 100 nominees for Sailor of the Year, in the edition celebrating 25 years of the most prestigious award in Italian sailing, given since 1991 (here are the stories of all the winners). Best of all, you will be able to vote for your favorite!
The Sailor of the Year is awarded to the one who, based on your preferences (which you can express in the online poll on our website starting tomorrow, Jan. 30, from 1 p.m.), will turn out to be the sailor who most excited you. It will be your votes that will determine who makes the shortlist for the final victory, among which will be unveiled at the VELAFestival (May 4-7 in Santa Margherita Ligure: info on www.velafestival.com), During the Evening of Champions (Friday, May 5 at 7 p.m.), the 2017 TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year and all the winners of the other awards (Performance, #don’tcrackunderpressure, Innovation and Young).
THE “MAGNIFICENT 100” LIST
Rankings articles and readers’ reports in hand, in the editorial office we took stock of the past season by identifying 100 “nominations” among racers, drifters, owners, sailors (the ocean sailors or those who showed off their “long sailing” skills), designers and builders. In some cases we also felt compelled to nominate boats with a special story (after all, every enthusiast knows that the boat has a soul and that without the boat the sailor can accomplish very little): you will find out the candidates when voting begins tomorrow, January 30, at 1 p.m. In this first phase, The 50 most voted candidates will pass the first round.
