We have presented you with all the “magnificent 100” nominees in the running (by the way, find below their stories and the reasons why we chose them, broken down category by category) for the 2015 TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year, sailing’s most coveted award given since 1991: now it’s your turn to vote for your favorite champion! And if you don’t know all the nominees, don’t worry, next to each one’s name we point out which category they were placed in, so by clicking on the links below, you can find out why they made it onto the list of the magnificent 100!

HOW VOTING WORKS
You have until Feb. 20, the day we close the “ballot box”: of the 100 nominees, 50 will advance to the next stage (the most voted: you will only be able to express one preference, so think carefully!). Mind you, the categories are only indicative, because it will be a real “cauldron” in which the “all against all” rule will apply. From 50 then they will become 25, and so on, until you identify the shortlist of papal candidates that you will be able to meet in person at the TAG Heuer VELAFestival in Santa Margherita (specifically, on May 8, during the Day of Champions, here you can find everything about TAG Heuer VELAFestival) and from which a quality jury, composed of top journalists and sailing professionals, will decide (also taking into account the number of votes you cast) the winner of the 2015 TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year.

WHY THE “MAGNIFICENT HUNDRED”
There are many, deserving sailors who have distinguished themselves through achievements, feats, passion and even patronage. Too many to make a strict initial selection. So, rankings and articles in hand, in the editorial office we took stock of the past season by identifying 100 “nominees” among drifters, specialists in Olympic classes, monotypes, IRC and ORC offshore racing on the vintage sail circuit, sailors and designers. But not only that. Every owner knows that the boat has a soul. So, we said to ourselves, why not treat it as a person? We also created two ad hoc categories related to both offshore and classic winning boats.

YOUR CHOSEN ONES!
We had asked you if there was anyone missing from the list of the “magnificent 100″ vying for the 2015 TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year, according to you. In just a few days, our mailbox was filled with dozens and dozens of nominations: serious, joking, moving, “sly.” Having eliminated sympathetic but hardly sustainable nominations(such as the one of the hens engaged in the world tour with Matteo Miceli), 20 names remained, including people and boats.
