Marta Maggetti wins a bronze medal at the RS:X Youth windsurfing world championships in Clearwater, Florida, USA. The WindsurfingClubCagliari athlete yesterday in the waters of Clearwater beach, in the decisive Medal Race, finished eighth, but thanks to good results over the four days of competition, she was able, once again, to climb onto the world podium. “Great satisfaction and a bit of regret for the last round,” Maggetti said after the race given that he was aiming to defend the world title he won in 2013 in Civitavecchia-where Italy had also dominated in the men’s field with Mattia Camboni taking silver on Saturday-but the result is still positive.”
NOW IT’S TIME TO “GROW UP”
The new world champion is Britain’s Emma Wilson who won the Medal Race, followed by France’s Berenice Mege then Marta Maggetti. The American one is the last Youth world championship for Marta, who now makes the leap among the “bigs”-already experienced with a good result in September at the world championships in Santander-with the goal of participation in the Olympics.
THE BRONZE WITH A COLD
At the world championships Marta although in good condition suffered a physical ailment on the first day and then had to battle a cold. But she was able to stand up for herself and still stand on the podium. Bringing up the colors of WindsurfingClubCagliari, which also flew the Italian and Sardinian flag at these world championships. Thanks to good results from Elena Vacca (11th) Michele Cittadini (fifth) and Tecno 293 class world champion Carlo Ciabatti (20th). Not forgetting Mattia Camboni’s Sardinian origins. In short, Marta and her teammates defended the colors of Italy and Sardinia well. Much credit also goes to the work of coaches Chicco Belli and Mauro Covre.
WHO MARTA IS.
The career of Marta Maggetti (born January 10, 1996) is a continuous string of international successes. In 2010 he won world and European Under 15 titles in Techno 293. Things do not change as an Under-17 in 2012: he won both the World Cup in the Netherlands and the European Championship in Spain. In 2013, in addition to silver at the Under-19 Worlds and gold in Civitavecchia, he won the CICO and all major national youth RS:X regattas.
