While preparations are in full swing in Pantelleria for the Festival of Traditions, while fishermen are cleaning “poor” fish to be offered to tourists with the prospect of reviving a local zero-kilometer economy, a “ghost” bearing an antithetical development project makes its appearance in front of the Scauri harbor, where the festival will be held. A drilling rig passes in front of the coast: a coincidence, but a symbolic one. Where do we want to go in the future? Invest in the development of the local economy or let the drillers advance? One choice precludes the other, because drilling the seabed is incompatible with a policy that benefits environmentally sustainable tourism. What do you think?
