The Gunboat G4 there had caused discussion: many had expressed doubts about the safety of a 12-meter cruising catamaran equipped with foils. And in fact. Look at what happened to Timbalero III, the number one specimen of the “flying” series at the Voiles de St. Barth: one gust too many and the team ended up with the boat by the hat (fortunately no one was hurt). It is not easy to right a catamaran from a capsize when it is a dinghy, let alone a 40-footer. It took time and some assistance boats. Like any prototype, the G4 will need to be perfected. But on a positive note, once straightened, the boat was in perfect condition.
