bente24_slider_93Certainly this is a boat that does not leave one indifferent. We saw it live for the first time at the Dusseldorf Salon, and indeed the Bente 24 stands out. And how. If only because of that somewhat so-so deckhouse, definitely spacey.
It is a project that starts with a Judel/Vrolijk-designed hull with a distinctly accentuated edge, a feature shared by all the latest designs from the winning German firm, but one that has a social heart. It is thanks to the support of more than 20 thousand followers on Facebook that this young company has succeeded in the feat of “churning out” a truly low-cost boat. The base price of this 24-footer is 25,ooo euros. Of course, with this price you will have a fast and solid “shell” on your hands, to which you can add removable furniture. The more sporty can instead opt for a racing version, with square-top mainsail, bowsprit and an enlarged keel.

HOW A BOAT IS BORN IN 14 MINUTES

BEHIND THE SCENES OF BENTE 24
The design of the Bente 24 was the brainchild of Stephan Boden, a sailing writer and filmmaker, and Alexander Vrolijk, son of renowned naval architect Rolf of Judel/Vrolijk. “We wanted to make something young and affordable, to encourage young people to sail,” Alexander said. Students from the University of Hanover also collaborated in the development of the boat, to whom the design was presented without giving them any guidance. Each student was then free to think and draw details and equipment of the boat. The rest was done by the Internet, thanks to the directions, suggestions and proposals of the community that followed the project step by step on social networks.
