Alex Thomson, the skipper of the IMOCA 60 Hugo Boss, he made another one of his own: After being filmed in his evening gown balancing on the keel of the boat under sail two years ago, now we see it grappling with a leisurely stroll up the tree (always dressed up) of the IMOCA with which the lone sailor finished third at the last Vendée Globe: this is a nearly 30-meter walk made even more difficult by the boat’s instability (albeit aided by the canting keel). This is a spot for Hugo Boss shot in the waters of Cadiz: bravo to the boat’s helmsman, bravo to Alex to keep his cool, bravo to the wind to remain constant throughout the spot!

A RELENTLESS SAILOR
That Alex has the makings of a stuntman is beyond doubt. But we must not forget that he is an outstanding sailor: look what he had come up with to repair one of the rudders under sail at the Vendée Globe. Having the necessary material, Alex cut strips of carbon, removed the fiber splinters caused by the breakage, finally welding it all together with a high-strength resin. An easy operation if done quietly and without pressure, somewhat less so at 20 knots of speed amidst the water spray.
