VELAFestival is the only sailing festival in Italy and the Mediterranean.
It’s a mix of beautiful boats from 2 to 30 meters; accessories, clothing, and sails to buy directly; services for boating and all-around Mediterranean tourism; seamanship exercises and sailing school for young and old; major events such as the Sailor of the Year award ceremony with meetings with great sailors; videos and films of the great sea stories; and a large exhibition with images from the forty years of our newspaper’s life. But the party will not only be ashore and on the dock.
There is the VELA Cup (last year with 114 boats at the start), a sailing event where boats of all kinds, from six meters and up, can be compared by simply declaring the length overall and the distinction between “cruising” and “racing” classes.
Santa Margherita is an exceptional location and will be enveloped on the waterfront and the Calata del Porto by the event, which of course will have no entrance fee. The whole town becomes the capital of sailing and the most beautiful boats in the Mediterranean.
