VELAFestival, one month to go. What you will find in Santa Margherita

One more month. Then, exactly on May 7 , the third edition of the only sailing and sea festival in Italy, the
TAG Heuer VELAFestival 2015
.

Until Sunday, May 10, for four days of fun and passion, Santa Margherita Ligure becomes the capital of the sea and the most beautiful boats in the Mediterranean. So many reasons to be there: admission is free, you discover the ideal harbor where you can have a safesailing trip , visit and try out beautiful boats , as well as accessories and clothing. And still we relax on the sea, enjoy great events with legendary sailors, spectacular videos and films, and the breathtaking exhibition on 40 years of Il Giornale della Vela. There is no shortage of seafood and a beach village for sunbathing. And on Saturday , May 9 , there is the VELA Cup, the sailing event with over a hundred boats of all kinds.

WHERE IT TAKES PLACE.
It takes place in Santa Margherita Ligure, the beautiful village overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio that is also one of Italy’s best-known seaside towns. The marina will host the big area exhibition, event area, shopping plaza and beach village on land, as well as cult boats and boat display new, used and rental to the sea, while the whole town, with the flavor of the sea in it, will be the real theater of the third edition of the Tag Heuer VELAFestival.

WHAT IS ON THE GROUND
The 2015 Tag Heuer VELAFestival will host a large exhibition area ashore, in which stands will be set up by the best companies in the nautical world, from accessory makers to shipyards, from sailmakers to insurance companies. Then there will be the large events area, in which the 2015 TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year award ceremony and Fogar Day, dedicated to Ambrogio Fogar, will be staged. On the sea will be moored cult boats, dozens of new boats from shipyards, those used and for hire. Available to enthusiasts here is the shopping plaza, a large nautical store with accessories, clothing and much more; the beach village, an area on the beach dedicated to the world of dinghies and water sports; and the exhibition area, in which the first 40 years of The Journal of Sailing will be celebrated with a spectacular display of images.

GROUND EVENTS.
These are the must-see appointments, from morning to evening, during the 4-day VELAFestival, among which we highlight: Friday , May 8 , from 7 p.m., the Evening of Champions with the awarding of the TAG Heuer 2015 Sailor of the Year ; Saturday , May 9 , from 6:30 p.m., the2015 VELA Cup party with an awards ceremony for all participants; Sunday , May 10 , from 2 p.m., Fogar Day, an event dedicated to Ambrogio Fogar, forty years after his round-the-world race.

EVENTS AT SEA
The list of must-see moments is also long At sea, among them: Saturday , May 9 , all day, the party moves to the water with more than 100 boats participating in the VELA Cup, sailing in the Gulf of Tigullio open to any boat, 3 meters and up; Sunday , May 10 , from 10:30 a.m. and then also in the afternoon, VELAFestival Watergame, innovative competition between Sup and kayak, for young and old; every day, on board Pandora here is the Seafaring School, with “lessons” taught by experienced sailors who teach how to tie knots and climb the mast of the fascinating 30-meter schooner.

SMALL AND LARGE BOATS
Moored in the port of Santa Margherita for the Tag Heuer VELAFestival 2015 will be dozens of models arriving from the best Italian and world shipyards (monohulls, multihulls, monotypes and dinghies), including, for example, Solaris, Catana, Amel, Hallberg-Rassy, Beneteau, Elan, Grand Soleil, Jeanneau and Dufour. Just to name a few brands.

CULT BOATS.
Available to the curiosity of enthusiasts at the Tag Heuer VELAFestival will be no shortage of hulls that have made nautical history. At the dock you will be able to discover Patience, the boat that in 1931 won the legendary race of the Fastnet, or get on a boat with Mauro Pelaschier, on the prestigious 1966 Namib , and still admire Paulena, the 23-meter boat born to sail in Honolulu or Il Moro di Venezia I, the progenitor of the series of mythical boats, and many others.

NOT TO BE MISSED AT THE STANDS
