“Two world tours at the same time. At the same time? In the sense that you leave for a leg by sea (westward) that does not exceed six months, after which you return home, change your bags and leave for a leg by land (eastward). And so on until the end of the two laps. In winter by boat, in summer by motor-home.” This is a piece excerpted from Lele Panzeri ‘s new blog(lelearoundtheworld.com) in which the well-known Milanese publicist and yachtsman recounts his latest “serious stunt” (we had already followed him during his book/enterprise “Ubu’s Fantastic Journey, Story of a Suicide Ended Badly, I Mean Well”).
The project is this: to leave in August 2015 from Cala Galera (GR) aboard the 1987 Grand Soleil 46 “Carletto Primo” (Carlo, 8, was the first to donate one euro for the realization of the project) and travel for six months westward reaching Cuba.
Return to Italy and depart eastward aboard a Nissan four-wheel drive with living cell (“Carletto Secondo”) with whom to travel overland on the leg from Italy to Vladivostok that will last another six months, to join the boat in Cuba and then leave for the second leg by sea (from Cuba to French Polynesia), and so on (as shown in the maps below). Estimated duration of the two trips? 5 years. Ambitious but possible.
SEEKING FELLOW TRAVELERS
Anyone can get on board and participate in the stages of the journey (four berths are available on the boat, while there are two on the motor-home) or contribute to the project with a donation (find all the information about this in the blog). Lele Panzeri will also be with us at the TAG Heuer VELAFestvial in Santa Margherita and will present his project on Thursday, May 7.
CALENDAR FIRST LEG
August 2015 from Italy to the Canary Islands. December 2015 from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean. January 2016 placid sailing up the Caribbean to Antigua. February 2016 from Antigua to Cuba. Anyone who contributes to the project will have their name written on the side of the boat and motor-home.
