Tragedy? No, miracle: sailor found after 66 days adrift

Bee_velistHe had been listed as missing last January 29, and by then the search had been called off. But Louis Jordan, the 37-year-old American sailor who went out to sea in his boat “Angel” for a solo fishing trip in the Atlantic, was evidently born under a lucky star. On that occasion the boat capsized and Jordan survived 66 days by staying on the hull, eating food supplies, catching fish and drinking rainwater.

Spotting him was, two hundred miles off the coast of North Carolina, a German tanker, the Houston Express, which immediately alerted the Portsmouth Coast Guard before taking him on board. Jordan, who was injured in a shoulder, was later transported by helicopter to a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, and is doing well .
