tragedy-polandA real tragedy took place on the waters of a canal near the town of Elblag, Poland. A small sailboat, the Atlanta, was sailing on the canal making its way to a nearby lake when it touched some power line cables with its mast. The helmsman did not see the wires, which were also very low, and an electric shock electrocuted the four crew members on the spot, in addition to setting the boat on fire.

Rescue efforts, though timely, were useless except to recover the four charred bodies of the sailors aboard the now half-destroyed Atlanta. The Polish prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation.
