What would happen if all the sailors in the world competed in an “all against all” race on a real race course? A question we won’t be able to answer: too many sailors, too many different boats. That’s where SailX, the multiplayer online simulator already used by some great champions, coaches and teams to train and better understand the tactics of racing between the buoys, comes in. Over time, a very large community has grown up around SailX (there are reportedly 3 million members). Sailing live is another thing, agreed, but SailX is incredibly realistic and mistakes are paid for, just like in racing, where “the one who makes the least mistakes wins.”
CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Now it’s your turn to test your virtual sailing skills. SailX has announced the first-ever Virtual Sailing World Championship. There is very little time to register, starting April 26 and ending May 31 with a super final regatta among the top 30. Five weeks of online regattas, one after another, 24 hours a day. Registration is open to all and free of charge. Soon, SailX also plans to announce the organization of the first team world championship.
