The Volvo Ocean Race will be at the Genoa Boat Show. It was announced at the end of the press conference presenting the 55th edition of the Genoese nautical kermesse scheduled from Sept. 30 to Oct. 5.
SAFE CREWS, MAYBE EVEN THE BOATS
“It is not yet possible to guarantee the presence of the boats,” said Alessandro Campagna of Ucina, “but on the basis of an agreement with the Volvo Ocean Race we will have all seven teams from the 2014/15 edition, also the VOR Dome (the large glass dome installed ashore, with a radius of 19 meters, with maxi screens and instrumentation inside to bring the excitement of the race to life, ed.) and a VO65 model that can be visited by the public will be present at the Show.”. Presenting the event directly was Tom Touber, chief operating officer of the regatta.
The Genovese event is the result of a strategic decision by the Volvo Ocean Race organization to put on two additional events once the 2014-15 edition of the World Tour is over. The other VOR event will be at the legendary Cowes Week (August 8-15).
