BENETEAU FIRST 31.7
The hull is descended from that of the Figaro, a one-design racing boat from Beneteau, and remained in production from 1998 until recently 2010. The design is by Finot, with plenty of sail area, which allows good speeds even in light winds. On deck, the deckhouse is rounded, leaving room for comfortable walkways. The standard helm is tiller-mounted, increasing cockpit space. Below deck, the standard layout is with two cabins, bathroom to the right of the drop-off opposite the L-shaped galley. In the center of the saloon is a dinette with convertible sofas. Lung. 9.85 m; wd. 3.23 m; price from 25,000 euros.
BAVARIA 32 HOLIDAY
Designed by the J&J studio and produced from 1995 to 2000, the Bavaria 32 Holiday is a ten-meter with a sail plan that is ideal for cruising: the mainsails placed in the hawser and the aquartier spreaders that are as wide as the maximum beam allow the mast profile to be lighter, reducing pitching and rolling. Spacious interiors made of mahogany include two separate staterooms, the saloon with two bench-seats, an L-shaped galley, and a large chartroom. Data: length. 9.75 m; wd. 3.25 m; price from 32,000 euros.
FEELING 32
In France in 2000, then in production until 2005, it was voted boat of the year and does not betray the distinctive features of Kirié shipyard’s Feeling line, solid and marine with the option of opting for an integral movable dinghy. Boat that performs best in medium winds and, thanks to hull shapes, has excellent stability. On deck, the storage capacity stands out; the starboard cockpit bench conceals a full-height storage locker. Standard tiller steering is tiller-mounted and increases usable space. Below deck, two cabins, a large square with facing sofas (one L-shaped) with fold-down table ending in a useful and curious central sink. On either side of the descent, on the starboard side chart and toilet room; on the left side is the kitchen. Data: length. 9.95 m; wid. 3.42 m; price from 33,000 euros.
Born in 2000, and produced until 2005, the Gib’Sea 33 is a ten-meter pure cruiser with original solutions. Almost absent of slips, with a bow that extends beyond the hull to accommodate the anchor. Also curious is the aft porthole and the strongly rounded deckhouse in the forward area. Designed by Slovenian studio J&J, it performs with ease under sail and suffers only from very light winds. On deck everything is in the spirit of simplicity, with a six-seat cockpit and good storage volumes. Below deck, two cabins a large bathroom, a dinette with convertible facing sofas, galley and charting on either side of the downdraft. Solid construction and streamlined finishing, with no room for frills. Data: length. 9.99 m; larg. 3.48 m; price from 32,000 euros.
JEANNEAU SUN ODYSSEY 32.2
Production of the Sun Odyssey 32.2 began in 1997, and until 2005 nearly 400 were sold. The project is by Jacques Fauroux who designed a pleasant family cruising boat. The aesthetics are pleasing with a modern deckhouse well connected to the cockpit. The deck has a nice cockpit with standard wheel steering, somewhat limited passage from bow to stern due to the width of the deckhouse. Inside excellent habitability with 1.80 m cabin height. Forward and aft are two cabins with double berths. Sail performance is honest, especially from medium wind up. Data: length 9.35 m; width. 3 m; price from 26,000 euros.
