Not just a sporting competition but a true Polynesian-tinged celebration, the Tahiti Pearl Regatta is now in its eleventh round (April 30 to May 4, 2014), with a busy schedule of races to go along with an equally packed program of festivities.

Established in 2004, the regatta is renewed each year with a new route, chosen directly online by users, between Raiatea, Bora Bora, Huahine and Taha’a. A lighthearted and festive mood is the backdrop for the South Pacific’s most important sailing event, a special mix of friendly competition and professional rivalry involving numerous boats engaged in the beautiful turquoise waters of the Polynesian archipelago. The regatta is open to all types of sailing boats of all sizes, divided into “monohull” and “multihull” categories, while professional and sponsored crews take part in the prestigious Défi Pro. MANY SIDE EVENTS FOR CREWS
During the Tahiti Pearl Regatta, days completely dedicated to racing alternate with nights of partying. The TPR Village in the Uturoa Market Square in Raoatea kicks off the festivities before the official start of the competition. Each evening, adrenaline gives way to fun with games, food tastings, barbecues, dancing and traditional songs awaiting athletes and spectators after the races.

Crews are not the only players in this major sporting event: the Tahitian Islands are an integral part of this extraordinary Pacific Ocean experience, a unique combination of sport and nature that is unparalleled in the world. The subject of countless legends is Raiatea, the sacred island of the Polynesians dominated by the imposing Mount Temehani and with an important nautical base for sailboats, charter companies, boats and fleets of all categories.
