Strip 39, the pure cruiser with an aggressive look

A pure cruising boat with many customization possibilities. This is Strip 39, a new design by the AC Design nautical studio. We get it from Andrea Rava, yacht designer at Alessandro Cantini’s firm.

AN ATYPICAL DECK
“The boat has ample interior volume, limited draft, medium/high displacement, and sail area that does not require constant sail changes. The hull lines were developed both angular and round. For the deck design, we wanted to make something new; the deck loses its classic shape with deckhouse and paramare. A continuous line encompasses the entire deckhouse. This new line will also simplify construction as well as give the boat a modern and aggressive look.

CONSTRUCTION OPTIONS
Wood construction can be either CPM or strip planking with round hull. Given the size of the boat, we also planned for L.L. construction. Same hull lines for both the round and angular hull. The deck maintains the same geometry for all materials and versions. The bulb is made of a structural box made of STAINLESS STEEL to which the lead torpedo weighing about 1,600 kg is bolted, all covered in GRP. The high aspect ratio rudder has CPM and epoxy blade and steel shaft.

WHEELHOUSE AND SAIL PLAN
The wheelhouse is tiller-mounted for simplicity of construction, but there is also an optional twin-wheel wheelhouse version to allow freer movement in the cockpit. The sail plan includes a 39-square-meter battened mainsail and a 37-square-meter low-covering genoa. The tree is split with two orders of crosses quartered by 20°.

ALL POSTPONED IN THE COCKPIT
To leave the cockpit free, the mainsail sheet is deferred on the deckhouse. For carrying gaits, we thought of the gennaker walled on the bowsprit fixed on the deck. The deck plan includes all maneuvers deferred to the cockpit. The 1.42m-long cockpit benches allow comfortable seating for 6 crew members. Eight portholes and two portholes mounted on the deckhouse ensure optimal ventilation. The open stern, the only concession to a racing appearance, is enclosed by a removable bench seat.

INTERIOR

The pure cruiser interior, with two versions and an interior height of 2.10m, offers accommodation for 6+2 crew or 4+3 crew depending on the version chosen. In the “charter” version we find a double berth in the bow with bathroom. Proceeding aft we enter the dinette with a C-shaped sofa on the starboard side and the galley broadside on the port side. The chart table on the left, is contrasted with the toilet room on the starboard side. Proceeding aft we find the engine compartment and the two cabins with double berths. In the “owner” version we find a double berth in the bow with bathroom. Proceeding aft we enter the dinette with a C-shaped sofa on the starboard side and a sofa on the port side. The chart table on the left, is contrasted with the L-shaped kitchen on the starboard side. Proceeding aft we find the engine compartment, on the starboard side is the toilet compartment while on the port side is the aft double cabin.” www.acdesigngroup.net
